African Hairstyles
YES! I want to take this course!
This course is designed to get you on your way to being a hair artist or loctitian.  Braid artists earn between $10 and $60 per hour, depending on their local economy and the complexity of the style.  This course is also a good course for new parents of children of African descent who have no experience with it, or home health care providers and volunteers who take care of people of African descent.

Although it focusses on African hairstyles, it also covers creating cornrows and dreadlocks in all hair textures of all ethnicities.  This course is illustrated so that whatever can't be explained well with words, you'll see pictures of.  There is also a video demonstration.

Black Hair Care, Cornrows, Dreadlocks, Braid Extensions, Hair Weaves, Twists, Box Braids...

Instructor: Niki Lasher (Kthulah)
Email: kthulah@kthulah.com
Homepage:  http://cornrows.co.uk
Availability:  Usually Daily
Instructor's Time Zone:  Jerusalem (usually GMT+2)

Educational Requirements: No prior courses necessary, but reasonable manual dexterity and the ability to follow instructions, and some experience doing hair is suggested.  If you can comb your own hair, and braid three pieces of string, you should be okay.

Goals:  To give hair artists and aspiring loctitians a good start, and provide a way for people to ask someone experienced questions in a professional environment.  Those experienced braiders who wish to study to become professional Natural Hairstylists should take the Advanced African Hairstyles course.  Professional natural hairstylists and cosmetologists may want to move straight to the Hair Extensions course to learn advanced techniques such as interlocking and tree braids.

Reading Materials: All supplementary texts are available for free on the internet.  This is a very student driven course, so some students have posted information on their websites and companies that contain useful information and photos.

Grading Policy:  Certificates available for academic performance, participation in the forums, attendance, and completion of the course.  Students are expected to read the lessons thoroughly, and complete the assignments thoughtfully.

Special Discount on the Advanced Course!

Students of the beginning course come from many backgrounds and have different needs.  So it is written for the casual learner/family braider or cosmetologist who just wants to add to their existing skills.  If after completion of Beginning African Hairstyles, students wish to take Advanced African Hairstyles, they will receive a $20 discount off the normal price ($35).
